Dear members, finally, we decided to refresh our theme. Decision was brought based on multiple factors, primarily because of technical needs as old one is not compatible with a new platform version, but also because you all asked for a darker theme.
Here you go!

NextLimit RealFlow | Maya 1.1.2 | 32.1 mb

Next Limit has released RealFlow | Maya 1.1, adding a new Visualizer daemon for previewing force fields applied to a simulation in the viewport.

Release Notes 1.1.2.0045 - Release date: October 30th, 2018:

New features
Daemons
- RFMAYA-309 - New Visualizer daemon.
Mesher
- RFMAYA-454 - New mesher Velocity Color Set parameters to create a Color Set with the mesh velocity information.
Parameters
- RFMAYA-150 - New Cache Frame Offset parameter for scene node.
- RFMAYA-499 - New Cache Offset parameter for Fluid, Mesher, Rigid and Elastic nodes.
Improvements
Cache process
- RFMAYA-457 - Total elapsed time is displayed after cache process finishes.
- RFMAYA-458 - Total disk written bytes is displayed after cache process finishes.
Maya UI
- RFMAYA-390 - Possibility to display particle Age and Vorticity in the viewport in addition to velocity values.
Resolved limitations
Fluid
- RFMAYA-328 - Fluids lack "Compute Vorticity" option.
Fixed bugs
Emitters
- RFMAYA-479 - Fill emitter does not create any particles when its Surface Offset is 0.0 for objects in default Shell mode.
Parameters
- RFMAYA-494 - Fluid node particle color ramp is not saved properly when using the Maya Binary format.
- RFMAYA-495 - Sometimes there is an error when clearing the Scene parameter of RealFlow nodes.
Limitations
Daemons
- RFMAYA-463 - Setting keys on crown shape parameters crashes Maya on simulation reset.
Maya UI
- RFMAYA-310 - Legacy viewport is not supported.
- RFMAYA-419 - Transformation tools may lead to unexpected results when used in a mode different than Object on RealFlow nodes.
- RFMAYA-461 - Undo of Manipulator controllers does not work.
Meshes
- RFMAYA-145 - Motion blur only works for cached meshes yet.
Known bugs
Emitters
- RFMAYA-391 - Simulating frame by frame always creates new particles, no matter what is the resolution of the fluid.
- RFMAYA-431 - Maya crashes when using a subdiv animated by vertex for the Object Emitter.
Maya UI
- RFMAYA-440 - Undoing the deletion of a RealFlow node may not recover the previously existing links.
Meshes
- RFMAYA-144 - Motion blur for cached meshes looks distorted when the samples are taken from frames with different number of vertices.
- RFMAYA-313 - Maya 2017 crashes sometimes the first time a Mesher node loads a mesh with more than ~25k triangles.
nParticles
- RFMAYA-137 - Maya crashes sometimes in Cache Mode with nParticles.
- RFMAYA-324 - Particles synchronization between Fluid and nParticles is not working properly.
Simulation
- RFMAYA-420 - Maya crashes sometimes when a Rigid simulation stops if GPU is enabled. Caching the simulation works.

Other changes include the option to generate a colour set based on velocity when meshing a simulation and new frame offset options when working with caches.

About RealFlow | Maya 1.0. Next Limit Technologies has released RealFlow | Maya 1.0: a new edition of its fluid simulation software for Autodesk's 3D modelling and animation package. The plugin integrates directly with native Maya technologies like nParticles and MEL scripting, and includes key features from the standalone edition of RealFlow, including the GPU-based Dyverso multiphysics solve.

Lower price and more integration with native tools than the standalone software

The choice of host software is interesting, given that Maya, unlike Cinema 4D, has its own native fluid simulation system, Bifröst, and an established third-party alternative, Phoenix FD.

Howver, the premise is the same as RealFlow | Cinema 4D: a cut-down set of features, provided at a lower price than the standalone edition, and more tightly integrated with the host application's native tools.

As with the Cinema 4D version, that includes Dyverso, the GPU-based - and since RealFlow 10, multiphysics-capable - solver, which means a choice of liquid, granular, viscous and viscoelastic fluid simulation.

Dyverso also supports both CUDA and OpenCL, so it should work with any manufacturer's GPUs.

In addition, you get around two thirds of the control daemons from the standalone edition of RealFlow, and native support for Maya's own control methods, including nParticles and MEL or Python scripting.

(There's no information in RealFlow's press material as to whether RealFlow | Maya can interact with Bifröst simulations themselves, but we'll update if we hear back. Updated: not currently, but it's planned.)

What you don't get are the standalone edition's more-Bifröst-like Hybrido liquid solver, Caronte rigid- and soft-body dynamics system, and RealWave ocean surface toolset.

Completed simulations can be meshed in OpenVDB format - unlike the Cinema 4D plugin, you can also import or export Alembic files - or rendered using any Maya renderer.

About Next Limit Technologies. Next Limit Technologies provides cutting-edge simulation technologies for a broad range of applications in computer graphics, science and engineering. Next Limits products include "RealFlow" (comprehensive toolkit for fluid and physical dynamics simulation for visual effects industries), "Maxwell Render" (physically correct light simulation and render engine), and "XFlow" (new computational fluid dynamics software for engineering applications). All products have been developed using proprietary technology, are available for multiple platforms, and connect seamlessly with most major applications in the DCC and CAD markets.
