Lipbone Redding doesn't really do the genre thing. The North Carolina native has been traveling the world and performing shows since the early 2000's. He spent 3 years making a living as a subway musician in New York City where he released more than a modest pile of one-off CDs and distributed them to his faithful listeners on the subway platform while perfecting his unique style of writing, singing, guitar playing, beatboxing, vocal tromboning, throat singing, and cheeky, often risque', storytelling
SInce 2006, Lipbone Redding has released 6 studio albums, each one a rawkus celebration of styles ranging from New Orleans Jazzy Blues to Latin Folk Dance Grooves peppered with Soul, Funk, R&B, Mongolian goat herders, talking dogs, brass gramophones, old washing machines, bird-filled rain forests, magical subway stops, and your Mama's record collection - apparently, the world is alive with music.
Lipbone Redding's new album, ESMERALDA is built upon a foundation of nylon string guitar, foot stomps and "human noises." The grooves are initiated by hand claps, vocalized bass parts, guttural groans, teeth clicking, mouth popping, and his signature vocal tuba-trombone-trumpeting. Add the Drum and Bass duo of Claudio Rochat-Felix and Jeff Eyrich and you have Lipbone Redding's most lucid record to date.
