Dear members, finally, we decided to refresh our theme. Decision was brought based on multiple factors, primarily because of technical needs as old one is not compatible with a new platform version, but also because you all asked for a darker theme.
Here you go!

Jalapeno Compadres is one of the very few Americana bands in Austria, Germany, Switzerland. They work hard to pave the way for Americana music in their region. "On our home turf we're known as the band whose name nobody pronounces correctly", they say. They've been given names like 'The Espandrillos', 'The Chapaleno Brothers" or other Spanish sounding names. "We won't stop makin' music till everybody calls us by our real name - and this won't probably happen until we're six feet under!"

The Jalapeno Compadres have become a full-size band with bass player Christian Muenzker and drummer Harry Krieger in the summer of 2008. Originally, they started out as an acoustic duo (Gunter Schaufler & Alex Heilmaier) in 1996. During these early years their first CD "Texas Tales & Other Lies" came out. In 2015 Florian Moser joined the band as an occasional fiddle player.

When it all began:
Back in the early 80s I (Gunter) heard Waylon & Willie sing "Back To The Basics of Love, Let's Go To Luckenbach, Texas". He thought to himself, "if this place is anywhere near to what the song is all about, Luckenbach must be my center of the world". It didn't take long till he headed out for Texas and the Hill Country in the mid-80s. As he got there he knew right away that these country outlaws were right about what they sang. The Hill Country to him turned out to be a whole other country than he had expected - a wonderful stretch of smooth rollin' hills where Folk, Country, R & B, Blues, Rock, Conjunto etc. blended into a unique musical atmosphere inspiring to anyone who has ever strummed a six-string. He caught fire immediately, became a fan of Texas Rebel Radio, KNBT New Braunfels, and Americana Music. J. D. Gilmore, J. Ely, R. E. Keen, G. P. Nunn, Texas Tornados, Reckless Kelly, Cross Canadian Ragweed etc. became his favorite bands.

A leisure time songwriter himself he grew into that Texas and Americana musical spirit. Guenter kept writing songs, but needed someone to give 'em that Texas kickin' edge. Then, along came Alex, a string wizard with his musical roots deeply planted in Ireland. Though playing a whole other music before (Rory Gallagher - the Irish Blues legend; Jethro Tull ...), it didn't take more than a few shots of ol' Irish whisky to talk him into that Texas thang: Born were the JALAPEÑO COMPADRES!

In fall 2010 they have released their first CD as a band: JALAPEÑO COMPADRES - The Ride". Six of the songs were recorded in July 2009 in Nashville's Bayou Studio with some of their great studio pros. The other nine songs were recorded with my bandmates in the Klangwerk Studio, Haiming, Germany in early 2010.

Recently Gunter has recorded a few songs in Nashville's Catch This Music studio and in Austin, TX, with some of the best of the Texas music scene. The songs are on this album "Thank You Willie". Further plans are to record further songs in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to give their music a slice of southern soul.
